EnergyPlus Interoperability? OpenStudio X DesignBuilder X BuildSimHub
There are several of EnergyPlus authoring tools out there in the market, just name a few: OpenStudio, DesignBuilder, and Simergy, etc. Also, more and more software tools are supporting EnergyPlus export function, including Sefaira and Insight360 (Autodesk). Nevertheless, each tool has their strengths and weaknesses. Energy modelers select tools based on their different needs. All these tools support full IDF export function. However, none of them can perfectly import an Energ

Version Control OpenStudio? You Got It!
More cool stuff this week! BuildSimHub now supports OpenStudio GIT operations, including merge and compare. Whatever you are working in the OpenStudio, do not need to convert to IDF anymore. To start an OSM project, you can create OSM branches. Under "create branch" window, you can find the selection of the branch type. Same as the IDF version control, now you can do diff-merge on OpenStudio. It is the best practice to keep track all the changes you made in the design process

Some Cool Stuffs for Text Editor Lovers
A new and exciting update from us this week is the release of EnergyPlus text editor. First of all, the text editor is currently combined with the "View IDF function", which you can find it under each energy model commit. Once open it, you will find a "Edit File" button at the top of the interface (highlighted in a circle). One thing should be noted is that the text editor is tied to the IDF object tree on the left side of the interface, which means after you select an object

Best Practices of Energy Modeling (BEM) - Model Comparison
Last time, we talked about data reuse during the energy modeling process. Today, let us see another scenario we will face a lot: I accidentally changed a parameter which causes simulation crashed. I forget what I changed. So it will take me hours to debug it and get lost in the sea of data. However, instead of directly diving in debugging the error message process, I can compare the two energy models first using BuildSimHub's model comparison feature: Bingo, that is the probl
